dc.description This paper will present the case of the region of Real de Catorce-Wirikuta, that includes not only the town of that name (with mestizo population, local and national, and foreigners) but the territory known as Wirikuta, that is the sacred indigenous cultural area Wirrárika (commonly known as Huichol), as well as the natural environment with fauna and endemic flora and other settlements such as mine, mine shafts, hacienda mining profit, towns and some villages inhabited by mestizo population and others abandoned. The idea is to make the approach to the identification of the territory, its characterization, function and what holds your future, because it is currently threatened by: open-pit mining and the benefit with cyanide; “cultural peyotero” tourism and religious; wildlife traffic and benefit; and by the arrival of people from other cultures. The bases for this are in the geography, the history of appropriation of the geographical space by various cultural groups and interests, and social practices: use profane and sacred; daily and cyclic use, its significance and social resignification; and the exercise of territorial domain, property, and legislation which there opera. All of which shows the various modes of life, worldview, use and appropriation of the territory, and relationship with nature that each culture has and therefore come into confrontation by the domain of the space, but also reveals the misunderstanding of each other in all aspects. en-US
dc.description El presente trabajo expondrá el caso de la región Real de Catorce-Wirikuta, que incluye no sólo el poblado de dicho nombre (con población mestiza local y nacional, y extranjeros) sino el territorio conocido como Wirikuta, que es la zona sagrada del pueblo indígena Wirrárika (conocido comúnmente como huicholes), además del entorno natural con fauna y flora endémica y otros asentamientos como son minas, socavones de minas, hacienda de beneficio minero, pueblos y rancherías, algunos habitados por población mestiza y otros abandonados. La idea es hacer la identificación del territorio, de su caracterización, funcionamiento y lo que le depara su futuro, pues actualmente está amenazado por: la explotación minera cielo abierto y el beneficio con cianuro (sistema metalúrgico); por el turismo “cultural peyotero” y religioso; por el tráfico de fauna silvestre; y por la llegada de pobladores de otras culturas. Las bases para ello están en la geografía, la historia de la apropiación del espacio geográfico por diversos grupos culturales e intereses y las prácticas sociales: su uso profano y sagrado; su uso cotidiano y cíclico; su significación y resignificación social; y el ejercicio del dominio territorial, la propiedad y la legislación que ahí opera. Todo lo cual manifiesta los diversos modos de vida, cosmovisión, usos y apropiación del territorio, y la relación con la naturaleza que cada cultura tiene, y por tanto entran en confrontación por el dominio del mismo espacio, pero sobre todo revela la incomprensión de el otro en todos esos aspectos. es-ES
