dc.description The objective in the present research was to evaluate the effect of the population density on phenotype plasticity of chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) cultivar Cayenne, in the Mid Sinu River Valley (Cordoba, Colombia). A complete-randomized-block design was used with three replicates per treatment. Data on plant height (PH), stem diameter (SD), leaf number (LN), leaf area (LA), stem dry mass (SDM), leaves dry mass (LDM), fruit dry mass (FDM) and total dry mass (TDM) per plant were collected and analyzed. Phenotypic plasticity was affected by treatments, since significant effect of plant population was detected on SD, LA and LN, PH was less plastic. dc.description El objetivo de la presente investigación consistió en evaluar el efecto de la densidad poblacional sobre la plasticidad fenotípica del Ají picante (Capsicum annuum L.) cultivar Cayenne, bajo las condiciones agroecológicas del Valle medio del rio Sinú (Córdoba, Colombia); para lo cual se utilizó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar con tres repeticiones. Mediante técnicas de análisis de varianza y pruebas de comparación de medias se caracterizó la respuesta de las variables: altura de planta (AP), diámetro de tallo (DT), número de hojas (NDH), área foliar (AF), masa seca de tallo (MST), hojas (MSH) y frutos (MSF) y masa seca total (MSTt) por planta. Se evidenció el efecto de la densidad poblacional sobre la plasticidad fenotípica de las plantas de Ají, al encontrarse variación significante en el DT, AF y NDH por planta, los cuales fueron los caracteres más plásticos. Contrariamente, la AP fue menos plástica. La MST, MSH, MSF y MSTt por planta, resultaron menores al incrementar la densidad poblacional. es-ES
