dc.description It was evaluated the presence and damage of pest and beneficial insects on twelve cotton genotypes with different morphologies characteristics.  An investigation was conducted at Codazzi and Aguachica (Cesar) during 1996/97 and 1997/98.  In Codazzi Anthonomus grandis (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) was the key pest, the genotypes Linea 356, Tx Ormar 8-8176, 407-TL-619-2 and Zy Ocra, with characteristics frego bract, okra leaf and high Gossypol content showed the minor damage for attack of weevil.  Also emergence percentage and development period of the pest was evaluated.  The genotypes Tx Ormar 8-8176, Zy Ocra and ISA 205H, with characteristics pubescence and middle degree of pubescence leaves showed the minor presence of Alabama argillaceae (Lepidoptera:  Noctuidae).  The beneficial insects Cicloneda sanguinea and Coleomegilla maculate were present on all genotypes. en-US
dc.description Se evaluó daño y presencia de insectos plaga y beneficos en doce genotipos de algodonero con diferentes caracteristicas morfologicas .  El trabajo se realizó en Codazzi y Aguachica (Cesar, Colombia) durante las temporadas algodoneras 1996/97 y 1997/98.  En Codazzi Anthonomus grandis (Coleoptera:  Curculionidae) fue la plaga clave.  Los genotipo Linea 356, Tx Ormar 8-8176, 407-TL-619-2 y Zy Ocra, que combinan bactrea frego y alto contenido de gossipol, recibieron el menor daño del picudo.  También se evaluó el porcentaje de emergencia y el tiempo de desarrollo de la plaga.   Los genotipos Tx Ormar 8-8176, Zy Ocra e ISA 2051, que combinan carecteríticas como hoja pubescentes  y semipubescentes,  mostraron la menor prescencia de larva de Alabama argilacea (Hub.) (Lepidoptera Noctuidae) Los benéficos Cicloneda sanguínea y Coleomegilla maculata (Coleoptera Coccinallidae ) estuvieron presentes en todos los genotipos en las localidades es-ES
