dc.description The Fisheries Assessment and Ecology Information System (SIEEP) emerges from the necessity of a efficient scheme for the storing, standardizing, validation and recovering of the informative basis (biotic and abiotic) to develop the integral approaches claimed by the scientific community for the study of fisheries resources. It is a digital database developed in Microsoft® Access 2002, with a relational and hierarchical model for data storing integrated by three components that include several modules: document catalogue, biotic information and abiotic information. It has a graphic interfaces system of intuitive access through which users can navigate in the application, store data, explore information, execute queries and reports that are visualised in the screen, are exported in several file formats or are printed. The gathering of the information derived from studies carried out in the Upwelling Ecosystem off Colombia, Caribbean Sea, since 1970 was the first application of the SIEEP. An informative basis with over 250.000 records was obtained, that for sure will become an obligated source for fisheries researches in the region. The SIEEP allows storing useful information for analysis and management strategies  that place fisheries in the ecosystem context. Contributions with data and initiatives for the permanent update of the SIEEP are welcomed. en-US
dc.description El Sistema de Información Evaluación y Ecología Pesquera (SIEEP) surge como respuesta a la necesidad de contar con un esquema eficiente de almacenamiento, estandarización, validación y recuperación de la base informativa (biótica y abiótica) que permita desarrollar las aproximaciones integrales reclamadas por la comunidad científica para el estudio de los recursos pesqueros. Corresponde a una base de datos digital diseñada en Microsoft® Access 2002. Posee un modelo relacional jerárquico para el almacenamiento de la información, conformado por tres componentes que incluyen varios módulos: catálogo anotado de documentos, información abiótica e información biótica. Está diagramado con un sistema de interfases gráficas de acceso intuitivo a través del cual los usuarios pueden navegar por la aplicación, ingresar datos, explorar la información almacenada, ejecutar consultas e informes que se visualizan en pantalla, se exportan en diversos formatos digitales o se imprimen. La compilación de la información derivada de los estudios registrados en el Ecosistema de Afloramiento del Mar Caribe de Colombia desde  970, se constituye en la primera aplicación del SIEEP. Se obtuvo una base informativa que supera los 250.000 registros y que sin duda ha de convertirse en un referente para investigaciones pesqueras en la región. El SIEEP permite almacenar información de utilidad para estrategias de análisis y manejo que consideran las pesquerías en el contexto del ecosistema en el que se desarrollan. Contribuciones con información e iniciativas para la actualización permanente del SIEEP serán bienvenidas. es-ES
