dc.description The multiscalar state has managed urban interventions in the intermediate city of Barrancabermeja in response to population growth influenced by the petrochemical industry since its settlement at the end of the first decade of twentieth century. Thus, this article aims to understand the urban transformation of the city of Barrancabermeja in the period 1951-2002, as a result of the interventions of the petrochemical industry and the multiscalar state actors, in terms of the production of social housing and infrastructure (urban roads, aqueduct and sewerage).  Through the review and analysis of official muniments, cartographic documents, and field trips, we were able to identify  the interventions that the petrochemical industry and state actors carried out in the urban fabric of the city of Barrancabermeja between 1951-1989; likewise, it was possible to understand: The involvement of  the Ninth Urban Reform Law for urban development management, the abandonment of ISI model and the restructuring process; and the trends in the urban configuration of  Barrancabermeja between 1951-2002, as a result of the different urban development management models. en-US
dc.description El Estado ha gestionado multiescalarmente intervenciones urbanas en la ciudad intermedia de Barrancabermeja como respuesta a su crecimiento poblacional, el cual estuvo influenciado por la industria petroquímica desde su asentamiento, a finales de la primera década del siglo XX. Este artículo busca comprender la transformación urbana de Barrancabermeja en el periodo 1951-2002, resultado de la injerencia de la industria petroquímica y de los actores estatales multiescalares sobre la producción de vivienda social e infraestructura —vías urbanas, acueducto y alcantarillado—. Así, mediante revisión y análisis documental oficial y cartográfico, más salidas de campo, se identificaron las intervenciones que la industria petroquímica y los actores estatales realizaron en la trama urbana de Barrancabermeja entre 1951-1989. También se logró dimensionar lo que implicó para la gestión del desarrollo urbano la Ley Novena de Reforma Urbana, así como el abandono de la industrialización por sustitución de importaciones —modelo ISI—, el proceso de reestructuración administrativa, y las tendencias en la configuración urbana de la ciudad entre 1951 y 2002, producto de los diferentes modelos de gestión del desarrollo urbano. es-ES
