dc.description This article gives an account of a pioneer experience in Chile that deals with territorial planning based on the concept of cultural landscape, It is a cultural diagnosis of Ibañez river basin in the Chilean Patagonia, promoted by the regional government of Aysen and carried out by NGO POLOC. We will refer to the methodology and results of the characterization process of The study uses previous diagnosis and available databasis regarding the study area and gathers new information mainly from oral sources. Through interviews and workshops, a multidisciplinary team assumes the role of describing the and gathering about 29 variables from 4 thematic areas. The integration of information allowed us to describe the main phenomena that have shaped the landscape. dc.description El artículo da cuenta de una experiencia pionera en Chile en cuanto a planificación territorial, la cual se basa en el concepto de paisaje cultural. Se trata del “Diagnóstico del paisaje cultural de la cuenca del Río Ibáñez”, en Patagonia Chilena, impulsado desde el gobierno regional de Aysén y ejecutado por ONG POLOC. En este artículo nos referiremos a la metodología y los resultados del proceso de caracterización del paisaje. El estudio utiliza diagnósticos previos y bases de datos disponibles respecto del área de estudio, y recoge nueva información principalmente de fuentes orales, a través de entrevistas y talleres. Un equipo multidisciplinario, asume el rol de describir el paisaje, acopiando y recogiendo información en torno a 29 variables de 4 ámbitos temáticos. La integración de información permitió describir los principales fenómenos que han modelado el paisaje. A su vez, la distribución espacial de las distintas variables, fueron incorporadas en un SIG, permitiendo identificar y caracterizar unidades de paisaje, que recogen distinciones y valoraciones de los usuarios del paisaje. es-ES
