dc.description In Colombia, the Caribbean has been among the regions most intensely invoked regarding the so-called national identity. References are usually made in a cultural code (almost always of a rural and popular nature) based on the idea of the tropical Caribbean, a symbolic regime that subsumes culture in folklore and permeates the very ways in which the Caribbean names itself. Permeability, however, does not exclude the existence of dissident self-representations. This article considers both instances when taking student films of the only local film school as case studies. Although some remain aligned with this idea of Caribbean folklore, most explore their historical dimension within culture, revealing some of the tensions that make it up. en-US
dc.description En Colombia, el Caribe ha sido una de las regiones más intensamente invocadas a propósito de la llamada identidad nacional. La invocación suele hacerse en clave cultural (casi siempre de carácter rural y popular), bajo la idea del Caribe tropical, régimen simbólico que subsume la cultura en folclor y que permea, inclusive, las propias formas en que el Caribe se autonombra. Permeabilidad, sin embargo, no excluye la existencia de autorrepresentaciones disidentes. En este artículo interesan unas y otras tomando como caso de estudio las películas estudiantiles de la única escuela de cine de la región: aunque algunas permanecen alineadas a la idea del Caribe-folclor, la mayoría explora en la cultura su dimensión histórica, revelando algunas de las tensiones que la constituyen. es-ES
