In this research was proposed to identify the perceptions and opinions that teachers have about the virtual classroom in the teaching of biochemistry. Eight Biochemistry teachers selected by convenience sampling, participated in the study. The research was developed with qualitative descriptive approach, in which participation was prior informed consent, in-depth interviews were conducted and audio-recorded. For the analysis process, open, axial and selective reduction was used. The teachers had an average of 19 years of university teaching experience. The analysis of the results allows to identify the following categories in the perceptions of the participants: I: recognizing the virtual classroom as part of the teaching activity; II: identifying new forms of teacher / student interaction in the teaching of Biochemistry; and III: recognizing the need for the formation of ICTs applied to education. The virtual classroom is recognized as an academic tool, but it demands effort and additional time from the teacher, and also identifies the need for a change of attitude in teaching. They admit that students have better affinity and skill in ICT, therefore the training and debate need in the face of the new role of the teacher in the teaching of Biochemistry with virtual classroom support.
En esta investigación se planteó identificar las percepciones y opiniones que tienen los docentes sobre el aula virtual en la enseñanza de la bioquímica. En el estudio participaron ocho docentes de bioquímica, seleccionados bajo un muestreo por conveniencia, contando con el consentimiento informado de los participantes. Metodológicamente se abordó un estudio con enfoque cualitativo-descriptivo, en el cual se efectuaron entrevistas en profundidad audio-grabadas. Para analizar datos se utilizó la reducción abierta, axial y selectiva. Los docentes cuentan con 19 años en promedio de experiencia en docencia universitaria. El análisis de los resultados permite identificar las siguientes categorías: I. reconocer el aula virtual como parte de la actividad docente; II. identificar las nuevas formas de interacción docente/discente en la enseñanza de la Bioquímica y III. reconocer la necesidad de la formación de las NTIC aplicadas a la educación. Se reconoce al aula virtual como herramienta académica, pero demanda esfuerzo y tiempo adicional al docente; además identifican la necesidad de un cambio de actitud en la enseñanza. Admiten que los discentes cuentan con mejor afinidad y destreza en las TIC, por ello la necesidad de capacitación y debate frente al nuevo papel del profesor en la enseñanza de la bioquímica con apoyo del aula virtual.
