dc.description AbstractMexico City –as we know and experience it– is the result of a series of heteroclite processes, in which immigration dynamics and its sociodemographic characteristics constitute elements of utmost importance. The migratory flow of women into this huge city has not only produced some distinctive features but has also given rise to new social processes which have changed some of the tendencies observed in previous decades. Based on statistical information sources, this article casts a view on the recent immigration and the women who compose it, focusing on its location in urban space and the characteristics connected to household and working contexts these women move through. This has proved a complex phenomenon as it involves different and highly intense flows: Mexican and foreign women pouring in and settling down in differentiated etropolitan spaces where they are faced with the challenge of having to survive in the outskirts, take on jobs which underrate their civilian rights.   en-US
dc.description La ciudad de México que conocemos y experimentamos es el resultado de una serie de procesos heteróclitos entre los cuales la dinámica inmigratoria y su expresión sociodemográfica constituyen elementos de primer orden. La inmigración de las mujeres a esta gran urbe no sólo le ha otorgado características específicas, sino que últimamente ha generado nuevos procesos sociales que revirtieron tendencias observadas en décadasanteriores. A partir de fuentes de información estadística, este artículo realiza una mirada a la inmigración reciente y a las mujeres que la integran, observando su ubicación en el espacio urbano y las características vinculadas con los ámbitos domésticos y laborales por los que transitan. El fenómeno estudiado es complejo, en tanto involucra flujos diversos y de alta intensidad; mujeres mexicanas y extranjeras que llegan desde otros países, estados y municipios/delegaciones, y se ubican en espacios metropolitanos diferenciados que muchas veces las enfrentan a subsistir en fragmentos de la periferia urbana e incorporarse en actividades productivas que limitan el reconocimiento de sus derechos ciudadanos.   es-ES
